Paint techniques

Extending colourrange

We have 27* colours in our paint range from soft and pale to bright and strong. Our range of colours is not large but we give you the reins to enlarge the range and for achieving exactly the right tone for you.

Crackle Paint

No need for any other product. Simply paint a layer of paint (not too thin- but a thickish layer of paint that is not to dry) and then use a hair dryer on it immediately and it will crack. Bring out the cracks by first using clear wax then using dark wax rubbed into the cracks. make it more apparent by wiping clear over the surface to remove the excess dark wax.
If you live it a hot sunny place then put your piece in the sun!!

Painting kitchens

You can use our paint on kitchen cabinets using at least 2 coats of paint and then give it two or three coats of wax to seal it. Our wax is water repellent and strong and makes a good connection to the paint. Our paint is meant to give character and interest rather than a perfectly smooth 'plastic' finish of some paints. Refresh every now and again with some more wax when its needed. Wipe over with a damp cloth to clean. Using a strong cleaner like Mr Muscle may be necessary for stuborn marks but it will remove some wax and the area will need rewaxing.

Painting floors

This picture shows the three stages - the original old varnished floor, with part of the floor painted in Old Ochre. The final stage is applying our clear lacquer over the dry paint.

Using a sponge roller is the best method as it is really quick
Apply 2 coats of the lacquer.
